Before I had started working at a startup, if you had asked me what I thought the hardest part would be, I’d have probably said the long hours, technical unknowns and not always knowing if you still have a paycheck.
Back in March, I decided I needed a change. I left my job of almost 5 years at a boutique ad agency and spent a little time trying to figure out what was next for me. I ended up as a co-founder and CTO of a 3-person startup, and I wanted to share some of things I’ve learned over the past few months.
As some of you know, I quit my job recently. I started there as a senior developer 6 years ago, and left as CTO, with stops along the way as Director of Technology and VP of Technology. Now I find myself faced with a choice. Do I try to find another CTO gig, or go back to my roots in development?
